It has been studied and written that managers who share information and decision making are rewarded with employees who offer more creative thinking, innovative solutions, are more productive and better able to be aware and in tune with customer needs.  And, probably goes without saying, generally more satisfied with their job.

How do you empower your employees?

  • Share information.  Have regular meetings and correspondence that keeps employees in the loop and knowing what is actually happening.  This is a better and more productive way to share information than allowing the grape vine to take over and manufacture or distort information.
  • Set clear boundaries with regards to policies, process, budgets, goals.  Be a leader.
  • Support the team approach and respect the decisions that they make.
  • Be a coach by supporting your employees, being a resource and helping them to grow in their position.
